On this page you'll find some definitions that may help if you're unfamiliar with some of
the terminology concerning transsexuals. These are not Webster's definitions, these are my
concoctions.
Transsexual (TS) -
A person so screwed up, they actually want to change genders. And they're willing to
risk losing everyone they love, undergo hormone treatments, and surgery to live as their
chosen gender. They come in two flavors, FtM (female to male TS) and MtF (male to
female TS).
Pre-op TS - Pre-operative transsexual. A TS who has not yet experienced the
joys of sexual reassignment surgery (SRS).
Non-op TS - A pre-op TS who does not wish to lop off their Johnson, but still
wants to live full-time a a woman.
Post-op TS - Post-operative transsexual A TS who has been through a sex change.
Surprisingly a high number of post-op's identify as lesbians. Who would have thunk?
Transvestite (TV) - Hetrosexual males who have a fetish for women's
clothes, and get off wearing their wive's bra's, panties, tampons, etc... They have NO
desire for a sex change.
Drag Queen - Gay males with far too much fashion sense. They get off strutting
their stuff on stage. They too do not desire a sex change. Neither are they making fun of
women. They are fierce entertainers, and grossly underpaid and under-appreciated.
Transgendered (TG) - Also called T-girls. Everyone who dons clothing of
the opposite sex seems to consider themself transgendered. Best I can guess, it's a
catch-all term that everyone, TS, TV, and CD can all share.
Crossdresser (CD) - Another word for a TV. It is considered derogatory
by the gay community. To be called a "crosdresser" by a drag queen is the
highest form of insult. Unfortunately most CD's don't seem to realize this.
Shemale - The porn industry coined the terms shemale to distinguish their
porn from gay and straight porn. To unwittingly call a TS a shemale is a major insult. You
mind as well just call them a tramp or a ho. On the other hand most TVs would probably
consider being referred to as a shemale as foreplay.
Trannychaser - A straight or bisexual man who worships T-girls. Considered
derogatory, because T-girls feel that a trannychaser wants them only for sex, and they are
not looking at the whole person. Also, the nickname of the Now Bar in the village in
Manhatten.
Trick - A term used by both gays and prostitutes to refer to their last
sexual partner.
Electrolysis - Hair removal procedure. TS's go through 4-5 years of torture
to remove all the hair on their face, and sometimes their crotch (in preparation for SRS).
Involves the electrocution of each individual hair folicle and some tears. Two forms:
needle and laser.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) - The name of the treatment doctors use to replace
the hormones in a transsexual's body. Typically takes 3 years to achieve the full benefits
from hormones. Any amatuer that tells you they've gotten C-cup breasts using
non-prescription herbals is an idiot and should be ignored. Hormones are powerful,
and not to be taken lightly. Most doctors will not prescribe them without a therapist's
recommendation.
Dr. Benjamin's Standards of Care (SOC) - The current rule system that all TS's must follow
to acquire a sex change. You must (1) live as a woman for a full year without a sex
change, (2) have two letters of recomendation from two different shrinks, and (3),
jump through a flaming hula hoop with an apple in your mouth.
Real Life Trial (RLT) - #1 in the SOC. The one year that a TS must
live as a woman is often referred to as the Real Life Trial or Test.
