What about Gwen?
Today here in California a young Transgendered teen was buried. Killed brutally for who she was, today there was a gathering in Fremont to mourn her and wonder why such evil exists in the world.
This is news that should affect and bother us all, both transgendered and those who do not
share our views of self. I find it hard to believe and difficult to accept that this news
did not break in your "news" area. If we do not pay attention to this kind of
abuse and hatred, if we turn the other way and pretend it never happened, if we do not
mourn for one of our own, then we deserve no advances in social conditions that affect us.
Mourn for Gwen Araujo and make sure that no other teen in her situation finds her
beautiful head desecrated by those who hate out of fear wielding pillows and shovels to
quench a life that was more beautiful and precious than their own.
